Acclaimed Manipuri filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1st LK Short Film Festival 2025, held at Gokulam Convention Centre, Kochi. The prestigious award was presented by Shri Kadannappalli Ramachandran, Minister of Port and Museum, during a grand ceremony attended by leading figures from the Indian film industry, students, and film enthusiasts. Paban Kumar, known for his profound documentary and narrative films that highlight the socio-political realities of Northeast India, was recognized by the LK Foundation for his unwavering commitment to storytelling rooted in truth, culture, and resistance. His works, such as AFSPA 1958 and Lady of the Lake, have garnered international recognition and critical acclaim for their raw, immersive style and powerful narratives. The auditorium erupted in applause as the audience celebrated the voice of a filmmaker who has t irelessly brought underrepresented communities and untold stories to the national spotlight.
